Well Water for Orphanage
Kamashi, Ethiopia

In western Ethiopia, there is an orphanage in Kamashi that serves about 500 children. To get drinking water, the kids must walk every day at least a mile, fill their jugs in a polluted river, and then return with their heavy loads. The Caris Foundation has provided funding to Blessing the Children International, of Kawkawlin, Michigan, to drill a deep freshwater well and build a large water tower. This convenient supply of fresh drinking water will improve the health of the children, and will allow them to spend less time on their basic needs and more time in their schooling. And the tower is big enough to not only serve the orphanage, but the surrounding community of several thousand people as well.
